A good logo consists of a few flat colors, simple shapes, and is scalable and memorable. For this logo, I was inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat's use of the crown as a theme throughout his work. I played on the dual meaning of the word 'monarch' by using both a crown and a butterfly, greatly simplifying then combining both shapes. The color palette is limited to three hues found on a Monarch butterfly: orange, yellow, and black. The logo can be reduced to fit on a business card, or printed in a single color. The logo is also shown in reverse, with white text and crown elements, for use on a black background.
