Historical Calendar

This calendar was inspired by Marcel Duchamp's L.H.O.O.Q. Each page appropriates a famous portrait and ridicules it with a doodle and a set of initials. Like many designs from the Dada movement of the early 20th century, the fonts are mismatched and the layout is built in layers like a collage. The bottom layer of each page is a newspaper article from the post-WWI era. Subsequent layers include the portraits and overlapping shapes and numbers of the calendar grid. The cover displays the headline "War is Over," referencing Dada's strong reaction to the savagery and destruction of World War I. The back cover is the reverse of the front.
