Often mistaken for a photograph, this illustration was painstakingly drawn in Adobe Illustrator using the pen, gradient, and gradient mesh tools. The pen tool allowed me to draw custom overlapping shapes to create the three-dimensional form. Through the use of gradients I was able to accurately reproduce the varied textures of the rubber, metal, and rust, as well as the shadows and highlights.
